Patrick Gorman

Patrick serves Young America’s Foundation as the executive director of the Ronald Reagan Home in Dixon, Illinois. He is a lifelong Dixon resident, having grown up in the second Reagan Home at 338 West Everett Street.

Pat attended Dixon schools and spent two years at Sauk Valley College.

Much of his working career was spent at the Byron Nuclear Plant, and after nearly 30 years he retired in 2010 with the title of Sr. Nuclear Mechanic.

Pat has a love of local history focusing mainly on the military side (Civil War & the World Wars). He aids in the search for lost soldiers from Ireland that perished in all three conflicts. After he retired, he was able to focus all his efforts on his historical research efforts, and other interests such as photography and model trains.

In a voluntary position he assumed the duties of president of then, Lee Co. Genealogical Society in 2000. He managed that organization for several terms as president until 2012, when he also ran for president of the Lee Co. Historical Society. He won that election and proceeded to run both organizations until fall of 2014.

At that time, he successfully merged the two groups, and the Lee Co. Historical & Genealogical Society was formed. He ran the new organization until he was hired as the executive director the Ronald Reagan Home in July of 2016, running both organizations until December 2017.

From 2018 to 2020, he oversaw repairs and renovation on the Reagan Home. He also worked with the then-Reagan Boyhood Home’s Board of Directors to secure the transfer of ownership of the Home to Young America’s Foundation.

Pat is married to his wife, Carol, and they have three children, Amanda Dickson, Bridget Schlein, and Dr. Eoin Gorman
