The Grosse Pointe North Young Americans for Freedom Chapter has
partnered with the Grosse Pointe South Chapter and two Grosse
Pointe high school students to coordinate a care package drive to
support four deployed, or soon to be deployed, local United States
Marines. Marissa Stinson, Grosse Pointe North YAF Veterans
Committee Chairman and Christy Tech, who attends Grosse Pointe
South, are sisters to the four Marines: LCPL Chad Tech, LCPL Josh
Stinson, PFC Jake Stinson and PFC Drew Tech.
LCPL Chad Tech, a combat engineer and graduate of Grosse Pointe
North, is presently deployed to Afghanistan and LCPL Josh Stinson,
a logistician, is preparing for deployment to Afghanistan this
spring. PFC Jake Stinson, who is an infantryman, will deploy next
year and PFC Drew Tech is currently finishing his military school
as a public affairs writer.
We are working to send care packages to their units in an effort
to ‘Support Our Own.’ Integrated with Freedom Week we are
collecting donations at both high schools as well as the Grosse
Pointe War Memorial and we have a breakfast planned to prepare the
packages for shipment.
Freedom is not free, and we support those who defend it.
Grant Strobl is the chapter chair of the Grosse Point North High School Young Americans for Freedom.
