Vice President Mike Pence will bring his enthusiasm for preserving America’s founding principles to University of Virginia on April 12 as part of Young America’s Foundation’s Ken & Janice Shengold Advancing Freedom Lecture Series.

This campus lecture follows previous stops at University of Iowa, Texas A&M University, and Stanford University.

“As freedom comes under attack in our schools, it’s imperative that the next generation ensures the advancement of pro-America ideas, and I’m excited to partner with Young America’s Foundation to take the case for freedom, free markets, and traditional values to the rising generation and to ensure the torch of freedom shines bright for generations to come,” said Vice President Mike Pence.

The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall. This event will be free and open to the public. Ticketing information will be released in the coming weeks.

“We are thrilled to have Vice President Pence speak at University of Virginia this April,” said YAF President Governor Scott Walker. “As classrooms across the nation run rampant with attacks on America’s founding principles and attempts to cancel our Founding Fathers, it’s more important than ever that students hear a pro-freedom, pro-America message to counter the indoctrination they face on a daily basis.”

The event will be hosted by the University of Virginia Young Americans for Freedom chapter. Founded in 1960, Young Americans for Freedom boasts hundreds of high school and college chapters across the nation that advocate for conservative ideas through activism projects and speaker events.

“The political climate at the University of Virginia has grown to become nearly inhospitable towards conservatives,” said UVA YAF Chairman Nick Cabrera. “We are targeted for discussing our beliefs in the classroom, yet liberals are praised for their progressive and divisive tactics under the guise of ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion.’ Bringing the 48th Vice President, Mike Pence, will allow for a reinvigorated sense of intellectual diversity across Jefferson’s Campus.”

On September 11, 2021, YAF announced the launch of the “American Freedom” podcast, Vice President Pence’s newest project to promote and advance freedom across the nation.  Pence joined YAF as the Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar in February 2021.

The Vice President joins powerful lineup of conservative leaders who have participated in YAF’s unparalleled campus lecture program over the years, including Ben Shapiro, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, William F. Buckley, Justice Clarence Thomas, and many more.
