This week as the 117th Congress gaveled in, pandemic haircut enthusiast and $10K+ fridge aficionado Nancy Pelosi brought the far Left’s gender-erasing speech codes to the People’s House. Her goal, according to a press release on the new rules, is to make this Congress “the most inclusive in history.” But, as with most allegedly well-meaning leftists, “inclusive” means erasing the dignity of individuals. To this end, the 117th Congress’ rules package will “honor all gender identities by changing pronouns and familial relationships in the House rules to be gender neutral.”
In the name of inclusivity, Speaker Pelosi and her band of social justice legislators have removed from House rules gendered words including “chairman, father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, half sister, grandson, or granddaughter.”
If this sounds like something you’d find in a syllabus at Oberlin, you’d be right—this is just another example of the Left’s campus culture nonsense spilling over into the mainstream.
It’s shameful that this pointless act of woke virtue signaling is the priority for Speaker Pelosi and leftists as the country battles a global pandemic and the American dreams of millions of small business owners are at risk due to unscientific lockdowns.
What’s worse, Madame Speaker—if we’re allowed to use that gendered honorific anymore—doesn’t even follow her own speech code when it comes to her official tweets.
In honor of this “woke” start to the 117th Congress, here are some examples of how surface-deep Pelosi’s flaunted commitment to “inclusivity” really is:
