In 2005, Georgi Nenkov and Stoyan Traykov visited President Reagan’s Rancho del Cielo and were inspired to help recognize the legacy and impact of Ronald Reagan’s Presidency. Twelve years later, in the summer of 2017, their vision was realized when a nine-foot marble monument of Reagan was erected in the heart of Sofia, Bulgaria.
Nenkov and Traykov are committed to ensuring the principles of Ronald Reagan are passed on to future generations. As part of preserving this legacy, Nenkov and Traykov graciously gifted a matching statue to YAF’s Reagan Ranch Center in downtown Santa Barbara, California.
This monument stands next to a piece of the Berlin Wall in the entryway, commemorating the key role Ronald Reagan played in combating communism and bringing freedom to Bulgarians and millions of others in Eastern Europe and around the world. The monument made its way across the ocean and arrived at the Reagan Ranch Center late last year.
The replica statue is a fitting addition to the Reagan Ranch Center, as YAF has been involved with the statue’s creation from the beginning. Attorney General Ed Meese, co-chairman of the Reagan Ranch Board of Governors, and Reagan Ranch Director Andrew Coffin served on a jury of prominent officials who assisted the Bulgarians in selecting the artist to create the statue.
Reagan Ranch Board of Governors members Robert Agostinelli and Governor George Allen also attended the dedication ceremony in Bulgaria in 2017.
