Radical Left Wing Hate Group Targets Santorum, CSULA YAF

This morning, dozens of posters appeared at CSULA promoting a counter event set to take place at the same time as a YAF-sponsored lecture featuring Senator Rick Santorum. The poster, seen below calls on students to “Rally outside the USU Theater from 2:30 pm until they cancel the event.” This counter “rally” is strongly reminiscent of the near-riot that occurred at CSULA when Ben Shapiro spoke on campus last year. The posters are stamped with a logo containing the slogan “Good Night Right Side.” This phrase, and logo, is often associated with a loose confederation of self-pronounced “anti-fascist” groups that promote hate against conservatives and caucasians. As seen below, a quick search of Tumblr and Facebook shows numerous posts tagged with the #GoodNightRightSide hashtag promoting the assault, and in some cases, murder, of the “right side.” So, let’s recap. Senator Santorum supports the following:
Free speech
Free enterprise
Conservative Principes
A safe and open dialogue on campus
On the other hand, this hate group supports:
Violence towards conservatives
Shutting down speech with which they disagree
An environment where disagreement is met with violence, not discussion
Is this kind of behavior tolerated by CSULA staff and officials? So far, they’ve done little to protect the open exchange of conservative ideas. Will they at least protect their students against this violent hate group? California State University, Los Angeles prides itself on “diversity,” but certainly has a rather bad track record of promoting intellectual diversity on campus. Young America’s Foundation calls on CSULA to condemn these posts and protect the safety of all students, not just the ones they agree with.
