Initially, the city council claimed the ban on the pledge was to create a welcoming environment for its citizens. “We concluded that in order to create a more welcoming environment to a diverse community we’re going to forgo saying the Pledge of Allegiance before every meeting,” councilman Tim Brausen told the Star-Tribune. Shockingly enough, the city is represented in Congress by no other than well-known anti-Semite Rep. Ilhan Omar. “I’ve concluded that I made a mistake and I’m sorry and I’m asking for forgiveness,” a city council member said at the meeting where a vote to reinstate the pledge passed unanimously, according to Fox News. In the current divided American culture where we see flags being burned, murals and statues of past presidents being destroyed, and NFL players kneeling for the national anthem, it is time now more than ever for self-righteous government officials to put aside their grandstanding tactics and support a divided nation in coming together to fight for basic American principles and values. The Pledge of Allegiance is not exclusionary or divisive, nor should it be ignored for the sake of being “welcoming.” It unites all Americans under the God-given liberties and freedoms we hold dear, that make it truly exceptional to live in a nation unrivaled by any other. Whether intentional or not, the initial ban on the pledge further polarized Americans, rather than bringing them together. But it also ignited a fire in those willing to stand up against the tyrannical, egocentric Leftists who eager to chip away at the basic foundations of America. You’re on notice- America won’t stand for those trying to destroy it from the inside.
