As educators throughout the country plan to weave the Left’s agenda into their curriculums in the upcoming school year, a professors’ forum discussing alternative ways to address students to the traditional “ladies and gentlemen” has gained traction on Reddit.
“In the past, I’ve simply addressed my class as a whole as “ladies and gentlemen.” However, as the classroom becomes more diverse, I’d like to change this up. How does everyone else address their class in a gender neutral fashion?” a social work professor asked the forum of more than one hundred thousand professors.
“I address my students as comrades,” a professor shared.
“‘Scholars’ or ‘jellybeans,’” suggested another.
“Guys, gals, and non-binary pals,” a math professor wrote.
Those who suggested “hey guys” were immediately shot down by other commenters who suggested that the phrase is not only transphobic but also misogynistic.
At least one professor on the forum still had some common sense, noting that “trying to artificially enforce language change on people, making them feel bad for using a normal phrase that everyone in the world uses, is creating a minefield.”
Traditional greetings, such as “ladies and gentlemen,” have been used for centuries and carry a certain level of formality and respect that cannot be replaced by nonsensical or Stalinist terminology. The Left cannot be allowed to rewrite the rules of social interaction.
