We know students nationwide are home from school, self-quarantining from COVID-19. YAF is here to help you find ways to fill your time with conservatism–this time, with some of the best movies that promote conservative principles. #7-Braveheart This action-packed film teaches viewers just how important it is to fight for freedom–in this particular case, against English tyranny. It motivated an entire generation of Americans to sign up to defend our freedoms against terrorism following the 9/11 attacks. #6- The Incredibles A Pixar favorite, this movie emphasizes the importance of the family unit, hard work, responsibility and achieving your goals–key aspects of the Conservative Movement’s push for personal responsibility and individual freedom. #5- Red Dawn (1984) Released during the halfway point of President Reagan’s battle with the USSR, Red Dawn highlights what was at stake during the Cold War, and why America’s ideas and principles are worth fighting for. #4- Heartbreak Ridge Directed by Clint Eastwood, Heartbreak Ridge tells the story of a U.S. Marine who, on the last leg of his posting, must train new combat recruits for a looming battle in Grenada. Hard work and determination inspire these recruits to be proud to fight for America. #3- The Dark Knight A movie you may never have considered from a conservative perspective–The Dark Knight depicts Batman’s fight against the terrorist Joker, through increased surveillance and accepting the hatred from citizens and the press for leading the charge to keep Gotham safe. #2- American Sniper This movie portrays U.S. Navy Seal sniper Chris Kyle and his deployments to the Middle East, highlighting the sacrifices our servicemembers make to protect us from the evils of radical Islam and to keep America truly free. #1- 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi 13 Hours depicts the horrific September 11, 2011 attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which killed Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens. The cries for help during this attack by radical Islamic terrorists went unanswered by then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, setting the stage for months of congressional hearings and investigations against Clinton. An added bonus? Mark “Oz” Geist, a member of the Annex Security Team, is a speaker for YAF!
