Ahead of Walsh Visit, Progressives Panic, Tear Down Posters at Catholic University

By

July 19, 2023

Leftist students are doing everything they can to try and put a stop to Matt Walsh’s upcoming visit to the Catholic University of America tomorrow evening.

The event will mark the first stop on Walsh’s national “What is a Woman?” college campus tour, presented by Young America’s Foundation.

Members of the CUA Young Americans for Freedom chapter have reported that posters advertising the lecture have been torn down.

One irate student even placed a sign reading, “Trans Women are REAL WOMEN,” across the hall from the dorm room of Caitlin Brawley, a member of the CUA YAF chapter’s board.

“As your e-Board, we want to let you know that this is happening and that you SHOULD NOT go to the event,” reads an email sent by “CUAllies,” an LGBTQ+ activist group on campus. “We are actively working with other organizations to make it clear that it is unacceptable for this event to be allowed on campus,” it continues.

Another student organization, CatholicU College Democrats, posted a statement condemning the event as one that will make the campus community “dangerous and spiteful.”

The Catholic University Black Student Alliance later reposted the aforementioned statement, offering to provide a “safe space” to upset students.

Leftists are organizing a counter-event to take place one hour after Walsh takes the stage, presumably giving them ample time to protest and cause disruptions during the live question and answer session.

The CUA Progressive Student Union, a rebranded Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter, noted, “we are not surprised, just disappointed.”

“For the Progressive Student Union to condemn my chapter for giving students the opportunity to engage with our speaker is disappointing. Freedom of speech is not discrimination, no matter what the socialism club says,” Gabrielle Dankanich, chairwoman of Young Americans for Freedom at the Catholic University of America, told YAF. “All of us at CUA YAF encourage students that disagree to come ask Mr. Walsh a question. We look forward to hosting him tomorrow evening,” she concluded.

Walsh is certainly proving his point. The “What is a Woman?” tour hasn’t even started yet, but the thought of him coming to campus and asking such a basic question has sent the Left searching for “safe spaces” and attempting to derail advertising efforts by the YAF student organizers.

Free tickets for the CUA screening and live question and answer session are available here. Interested in attending another one of Matt Walsh’s campus tour stops? Click here to find out where the “What is a Woman?” tour is headed this fall.
