#BuildtheWall. Here is Why.

  • –          Many of the immigrants detained have been prioritized for deportation “because they had committed specific felony crimes, multiple misdemeanors, or specific immigration violations targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)”[i]

    –          There was approximately 523,000 criminal charges and convictions held by 92% of those arrested by ICE for civil violations of US immigration law[ii]

    –          ICE is forced to release large numbers of illegal immigrants, including immigrants with criminal backgrounds because illegal immigrants may not be held by ICE for more than six months, and ICE must receive travel documents from the immigrant’s home country to deport them. Some countries refuse to provide these documents[iii]

    –          There are approximately 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States.[iv] For reference, the US only has a total of about 326 million people living in it in.

    –          Migrant families are crossing at record numbers, overwhelming border security and overcrowding holding areas. This poses serious threats to the families and their children in particular, many of whom are contracting diseases[v]

    –          Poor immigration laws are problematic for the US and the Western Hemisphere as a whole[vi]
