Steven Salaita, an associate professor at Virginia Tech, published a column in Salon.com, "
No, thanks: Stop saying 'support the troops.'" The
professor is widely known for his anti-Israel, pro-Jihadist views
and has authored a number of books supporting Arab beliefs.
Sanlaita claims American patriotism to be nothing but a cover for
"Next time you are asked to "support our troops," then,
remember that in a country where wealth decides the fate of so many
communities, such an uncritical gesture isn't even worth the change
from a broken dollar."
Thankfully for Salaita, there is an American military to protect
his rights to publish this column in the first place.
By writing this article, Professor Salaita's intended to
completely discredit the American military and the freedom our
country represents. Salaita believes he is more intelligent than
most Americans and that he has all the answers to our problems. In
actuality, the column proved that people like Professor Salaita are
the problem. He has completely discredited himself as a professor,
but most of all, as an American citizen.
If Professor Salaita truly believes America is such an evil
country, I suggest he leave.
