Earlier this month more than 200 veterans cycling from San Francisco to San Monica as a part of the Annual Ride to Recovery bike
race—which raises funds to support rehabilitation programs for our nation’s military veterans and soldiers—stopped at the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara. Young America’s Foundation staff was on hand to greet the riders when they stopped at the Center in the heart of downtown for lunch prepared by the USO.
According to the American Legion’s website:
“Cycling is an important part of recovery and rehabilitation. The benefits of Ride 2 Recovery include weight loss, improved cardio fitness, recovery and rehabilitation, mental health and improved morale. Also, it gives participants a sense of normalcy, accomplishment, pride and camaraderie and provides relief from depression and other problems that often accompany recovery and rehabilitation.”
Young America’s Foundation was honored to provide hospitality to the veterans as a small way of thanking them for their sacrifices to protect our Freedoms.
