• Clemson YAF has come under fire from the Left for their Second Amendment Banquet. They have released this statement to make clear any misgivings or criticisms anyone has about the event:

It has come to our attention today that certain groups are questioning the legality of Friday's Second Amendment Banquet and Gun Giveaway. We would like to offer the following statement regarding the steps taken to insure this event is legal and does not violate state law or university policy. Our group has met with, and been in close contact with, Clemson University's General Counsel Office, who has provided us with the statutes applicable to our events occurring on Friday, April 19th.

We have made deliberate and careful effort in ensuring that our event follows applicable law. While the Office of the General Counsel does not represent us, they have advised us because we are a recognized student group on their campus. Our group has received the same advice that any group giving away any item (a cake, a car...etc.) would receive in addition to confirming our understanding of the weapons ban in effect on campus. Below is a summary of the legal issues and how we are addressing them.

Regarding the issue of a gun being on campus: Our group WILL NOT bring any firearm on campus at any time. This is against state law and our group does not condone violating state law nor intend to violate state law.

Regarding the transfer of the Mossberg 715t: Our group WILL NEVER be in possession of the firearm. We are simply offering the winner of the giveaway a gift certificate which can be exchanged at Easy Money, LLC (a pawn shop in Anderson which holds a Federal Firearms License) for the Mossberg 715t. The winner MUST be 18 years of age (according to state law required to purchase such a weapon) and will undergo a thorough background check to be performed by the firearms dealer. We have copies of Easy Money's FFL on file and can make it available to anyone whom requests it.

Regarding the process used to select the winner of the rifle: We are conducting a free giveaway, no consideration is necessary in order participate in the giveaway. Each person who has bought a ticket to the 2nd Amendment Banquet is in no way guaranteed or provided an entry into the giveaway of the gun (club members and their immediate family are being voluntarily excluded to prevent claims of nepotism). Any banquet attendee or member of the public may register (for no fee) outside of the event. The winner of the gun will be selected from those who have entered into the giveaway. Winners are not required to be present but must have properly filled out a giveaway contact form in order to be eligible to receive the firearm. Winners will have 24 hours to acknowledge and accept the gun.

I strongly encourage any individual or group with any questions about the event to contact us at: We would be more than happy to explain our position, the reason for the banquet and the gun giveaway process to you.

    • No, I couldn't make it. Had to host 2 B-Day ougtnis tonight. However, see you picked up the .22 . Do you have a approximate age on the rifle ?I still have my Dad's .22 bolt rifle. Its great with .22 shorts and once helped clear out a half dozen woodchucks which were making my backyard look like a minefield. The nice thing was that it made such little noise no one was ever the wiser. Hey, if you ever get to the Cape again drop me a line, Ok ?

    • You're not right about what I got (but you are right about it being the most glaring hole in my cocleltion - in fact, I think if not sooner, a new 10/22 will be my BAG day gun...)HOWEVER... The gun I bought *IS* perfectly suitable for a "shoot-off". I'll bring the P3AT and the Colt Jr., too. How does Sunday 9/30 look?

    • Recovery is a process, not an event. Rats! I still want one thing reach that goal and then I'll be fixed frvoeer. Life will be fixed frvoeer. Stuff will be (you get the idea)My sister, Deb, would say that that desire means we are made for a different place a place where things don't break and need fixing (like me) a place where you fix it once and it's done. It's good I married Dan. He is a life is a journey guy. I'm the goal person. I guess that makes me the I'll rest when I'm dead person but I'm learning. It's a process. It's a refining One day at at time.(I'm still amazed that someone so good with speaking and people has any fears about doing it. I guess that's part of the refining. Into the Fire! )Many prayers for you! nsyqvt [link=]svrgkcs[/link]
