    • While I agree that the current sysetm is almost incredibly unfair, as a former college student who absolutely despised how my UC spent its money, I have to take issue with the underlying idea here; namely, that academic institutions should be paying players to produce entertainment.I want to watch the best possible basketball, regardless of the ages of the players. That means I have no use for a feeder league like the NCAA, and I would downright hate the idea of my (limited) tax dollars, bookmarked for education, winding up in some athlete and his agent's pockets.I already hate the fact that public schools spend ass-tons of money on coaches, stadiums, and facilities when there's already a supply of higher-quality sports entertainment. I get that some universities probably net some money because of their sports programs, but most spend far more than they bring in. Allowing schools to straight-up pay for better athletes? It makes perfect sense if your goal is the most reasonable and fair collegiate sports league, but that goal misses the point (at least regarding public schools), these are other people's tax dollars and they shouldn't be spent on inferior basketball.
