Young America's Foundation and the Arthur N. Rupe Foundation is excited to announce that John Stossel, host of "Stossel" on the Fox Business Network, and Governor Howard Dean will participate in a debate on September 20 at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Mr. Stossel and Governor Dean will offer their views on the government's role in healthcare, the economy, education, and more.
This program is the first in a series of four debates that will take place this fall featuring prominent conservative and liberal speakers on college campuses. With many young people struggling to find jobs upon graduation, mounting college debt, and the Youth Misery Index at an all-time high, more students are looking for relief. The question remains: Will they seek support from the government or from the free market? Regardless of the outcome in November, students will pay closer attention to the national debate on public policy than ever before. The goal of this series is to give thousands of students a chance to engage in the public policy process by hearing from prominent leaders of our country.
The Foundation is working with campus organizers to select additional locations for the remaining debates as well as selecting a debate topic, participants, and an appropriate moderator. Conservative participants include Karl Rove, Herman Cain, Michelle Malkin, Dinesh D'Souza, Bay Buchanan, and Rick Santorum, among others.
