  • Rove Finally Takes Stage at Loyola

3/28/2011 4:24:39 PM Posted by Patrick Coyle

Line of students for Rove EventLast week, Karl Rove finally took the stage to a standing ovation at Loyola University in Chicago after a delay of more than four months. Readers of this blog will recall that Karl Rove was originally blocked from speaking last fall because the school believed that his presentation would somehow jeopardize the school's 501c3 status. This is despite the fact that the school allowed Obama administration appointee Eboo Patel to speak earlier in the fall 2010 semester.

More than 30 minutes prior to the lecture, a long line of students and community members waited to get into the lecture hall. Despite the heavy security presence, there was one lone protester wearing an orange jumpsuit, black hood, and a sign that read "close Guantanamo." You kinda wonder what this protester expects Rove to do about Gitmo when Obama is currently in the White House? Perhaps this protestor's time would be better spent protesting Obama?

Lone ProtestorFinally, there was one professor who wasn't please that Rove was speaking on campus. He was kicked out of the event prior to the speech for handing out literature not approved by the university. You can watch an interview with the professor here.

    • I thought that they are closing Guantanamo already! They are moving the prisoners.

    • Stacy, be advised that you are in good comanpy. Anyone who tells the truth (you, Max, Ron Paul, et al.) are perceived as a danger to those in power (i.e., the banking elite such as those individuals who comprise the upper echelons of Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan) as well as to those who desire power (the bootlickers who eat the crumbs that fall from the bankers' table). I am at a loss to understand this abject animosity towards people who tell the truth it surely cannot be perpetrated by thinking individuals. Hmmm . . . YAF = Yuppie Affluent Freaks? Yoddeling Apathetic Frumps? Oh wait, I know, I know . . . Yammering Apoplectic Fascists!
