In this testy exchange on Kudlow’s “The Call,” with Simon Rosenberg (he’s testy, by the way, not me), I’m arguing that the death tax is a ludicrous solution to what the liberals call our “revenue problem.” Okay, first of all, we do not have a revenue problem in this country. We have a profound spending problem. When the deficit quadruples in less than a year, it’s a spending problem.
The death tax, otherwise misidentified as the estate tax, is a disaster any way you look at it: it taxes individuals’ incomes twice, prevents people from being able to pass down the fruit of their labor to their children, and is the most expensive tax there is. It COSTS the government more to impose it that they collect from it. So of course it’s the liberals’ latest solution. Sounds just like the stimulus programs.
