  • President Obama should practice what he preaches

6/10/2010 5:00:40 PM Posted by Evan Gassman

A few days ago, President Obama gave a commencement address at Kalamazoo Central High School. His message: “Don’t make excuses.”

     Here’s the video:

Okay, Mr. President – let’s see if you practice what you preach:

    • Earlier this year, a White House adviser said that the White House was sticking with its “blame Bush” strategy.
    • Obama has consistently blamed the economic slowdown on President Bush.
    • Obama has blamed Bush for the ballooning debt – despite much of that debt being caused by his spending policies.
    • Let’s not forget that Obama has failed to take any ownership of the BP oil spill. (Imagine if President Bush did nothing but blame Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans.)

That list can go on for miles, but the general point is clear: Obama is pretty darn good at “making excuses,” so he has no business telling high school students not to make them.

Perhaps this perpetual blame game explains why Obama’s most recent approval rating has tumbled to a new low – 44%. But those low approval numbers aren’t your fault, right Mr. President?

High School Students interested in learning more about conservative ideas can attend our upcoming High School Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. or the Northeast Conservative High School Conference in Grove City, PA.
