  • Obenshain Convinces O'Reilly New Media is Good

5/18/2010 5:19:09 PM Posted by Cheri Cerame

Last night, our own Kate Obenshain appeared on The O’Reilly Factor to discuss the positive and negative effects of new media, specifically YouTube. For some bizarre reason, both Bill O’Reilly and Juan Williams (Bill’s other guest during the segment) were denouncing the use of new media. After some convincing from Kate, however, Bill was swayed on the positive effects new media has.

Think about it – tools like YouTube have empowered conservative activists across the country to expose liberal biases on their college campuses. Just yesterday we reported on a professor using a commencement ceremony to bash the new Arizona immigration law. Without YouTube, the professor would have been let off the hook.

This could only be the first of many viral videos that expose the left’s usage of graduation ceremonies as a way to give one last lecture drenched in liberal bias. Student activists are encouraged to bring camcorders or video recorders to their graduation ceremonies to record commencement addresses, post them to YouTube and send them to Patrick Coyle via PCoyle@yaf.org.

There are certainly moments in your high school or college career where you thought to yourself, “I wish I had a camera with me,” while a leftist was indoctrinating your class.

So while we all enjoy David After Dentist, it is important to remember that new media tools like YouTube can be a powerful tool in the hands of conservative activists.

    • What a great job Kate did on this interview. The president wanted transparency and the internet provides it.
