  • AARP: the spade that is 'special interest'

1/11/2010 3:41:14 PM Posted by Jason Mattera

Barack Obama's pledge on the campaign trail was that he was going to take on 'special interests;' that insurance companies, drug companies, and every other lobbying industry in the nation's capital would no longer dictate legislation behind closed doors. There would be historic transparency.

    Hope and change, people!

    Reality check:

What Obama meant to say is that he would serve as a haven... to every left-wing special interest group. One of those groups is the faux seniors organization, AARP. I say 'faux' because, as the video below demonstrates, AARP cares only for their bottom dollar, not what's in the best interest of their members.

In fact, AARP brings in the majority of their revenue ($650 million) through "royalty fees," which are nothing more than "kickbacks" for selling their name to certain insurance policies. As it turns out, their kickback cash cow, a health-care policy known as Medigap, is the only insurance policy NOT required to accept people with preexisting health conditions. AARP rakes in around $400 million a year off of Medigap. And AARP endorsed ObamaCare. Funny how that works.

What would AARP vice president, Nancy LeaMond have to say about such "special treatment?" And maybe her organization can help pay their fair share of ObamaCare? Well, folks, we at Young America's Foundation sought an answer to these questions.

    Smile, Nancy. You're on camera!
