Obama and the liberals are committing one of the greatest crimes of the
century; generational theft. Through a series of measures promising
so-called “reform,” efforts are being made to socialize our healthcare.
These changes will impose a tremendous burden upon our generation, which would
be the first to truly suffer from it. Let’s look at the facts:.jpg?n=1587)
First, despite promises to the contrary, healthcare costs will rise. If
this government takeover is passed, costs system wide will increase by over $200
billion. This will result increased expenses for us on everything from
checkups at the doctor to emergency room visits.
Second, this bill would increase the deficit by almost $1 trillion over the
next decade. Such burdens could result in increased taxes and a weaker
dollar. This will result in less earning power once we graduate and a
lower standard of living.
Finally and most importantly, this bill puts us on a path to socialized
medicine. This government takeover calls for taxes on private benefits as well as
multi-state plans that will end up under government control. Once we
enter the workforce, our employers, due to increased costs on private plans
will have no choice but to enter us into these inadequate governmental
programs.
Despite the clear reasons for not passing this bill, college professors espouse
the benefits of this bill in their classroom while medical schools host panels
stacked with panelists in support of this measure. Balance on campus has
once again leaned to the left on a policy issue.
Therefore, my question to the liberals is: “Despite the facts, why do you
insist on committing theft from poor college students?” While it is not a
traditional kind of theft, I believe that generational theft is the worst kind.
