  • KatiePavlichUAYesterday, the University of Arizona Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) chapter hosted alum and author Katie Pavlich.  Katie was coming to campus to talk to students about our precious Second Amendment and student rights on campus.

The event was scheduled to take place in the campus theater at 7:00pm until the University of Arizona YAF chapter was notified three hours before the event letting them know the location was being changed to a classroom.

In a Twitter exchange with Pavlich, the University of Arizona blamed the relocation on a scheduling conflict-the conflict being that the University would be showing the movie Her in the theater and therefore the lecture venue had to be changed.

The University promised the students who planned the event that there would be people directing event-goers to the new location, but as you could guess that promise was not upheld.  We do not know how many students were unable to attend the event because they were unaware of the new location, but we did catch word that some people said if they hadn't seen it on Twitter or Facebook they wouldn't have known.

Pavlich noted that this was not the first time that a "scheduling" conflict had arisen before a conservative event.  When Pavlich was a senior she had booked the theater for a conservative movie screening and a week or two before the event she was told she could no longer use the room for her event.  Sadly, these "scheduling conflicts" seem to be happening all across the country on college campuses as liberal progressivism seeps into campus life.  Event planners of conservative events almost always seem to run into obstacles when bringing in speakers who talk about issues deemed "controversial" by liberal administrators.

Despite the location change the classroom was packed with over 200 students eager to see Pavlich speak about Second Amendment rights.  Congratulations to the University of Arizona YAF Chapter and to Katie Pavlich for a successful event despite the adversity they faced!

    • Unfortunately the University is one of the majority of Liberal thinking universities. I have a love hate for the U of A. Love it because I'm from Tucson and attended and met my husband there but hate that liberals have a strong foothold.
