About Ken Walsh
Kenneth T. Walsh is the chief White House correspondent for U.S. News & World Report. He has covered the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, George Herbert Walker Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and, currently, Barack Obama.

Walsh makes television appearances on networks including ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News Channel, and C-SPAN and radio shows on outlets including NPR. He gives frequent lectures around the country.

Walsh is the author of five books, Family of Freedom: Presidents and African Americans in the White House, published by Paradigm Publishers in February 2011; From Mount Vernon to Crawford:  A History Of The Presidents and Their Retreats, published by Hyperion in May 2005;  Air Force One: A History of the Presidents and Their Planes, published by Hyperion in May 2003; Ronald Reagan: Biography, published by Random House in 1997, and Feeding the Beast: The White House Versus the Press, published by Random House in 1996, updated in 2002.

He has won the two most prestigious awards for White House coverage: the Aldo Beckman Award in 1991, and the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting on the Presidency in 1992 and 1998.

As an adjunct professor of communication at American University in Washington, D.C., Walsh has taught courses on politics and the media, media ethics, the presidency and the media, and how the media shape history. In 1998, he was named outstanding adjunct professor of the year.

Walsh served as president of the White House Correspondents’ Association from 1994 to 1995. He remains a member of the association’s board of directors and is chairman of the scholarship committee. He has twice served as a judge for the Robert F. Kennedy journalism awards. He has traveled to more than 60 countries covering the presidency.
