Reagan 100 Road to Freedom Seminar: The Education of Ronald Reagan and the Fight for Freedom’s Future
October 21, 2011
The Reagan Ranch Center, Santa Barbara, California
The Education of Ronald Reagan and the Fight for Freedom’s Future seminar is a 3-day long program that will introduce students to the works of the intellectual leaders— Friedrich Hayek, Milton Friedman, Frank Meyer, Ludwig von Mises, Henry Hazlitt, James Burnham, and Russell Kirk—that influenced President Reagan. Students will learn how President Reagan’s successful implementation of their pro-freedom and free market ideas can be applied to current issues facing the United States.
Policy experts and top leaders in the Conservative Movement will help students discover:
- how the intellectual leaders of the modern Conservative Movement influenced President Reagan’s policies.
- how the free market economic philosophies of Hayek, Hazlitt, Friedman, and von Mises could be applied to today’s problems of soaring debt, unemployment, and the growth of public sector unions
- how liberalism threatens the Western principles that has led to freedom for millions of people across the world
- concrete strategies to communicate free market values to students on campus
Students will also have to opportunity to visit President Ronald Reagan’s beloved ranch—Rancho del Cielo. Known as the Western White House, the ranch is a place like no other for a young conservative. It is not only where President Reagan would relax, but is where he would launch the Reagan Revolution with the signing of the biggest tax cut in American history.
