About Marc Short
Marc Short is the chief of staff for the House GOP Conference, chaired by Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN). The House GOP Conference is the internal organizational body for all Republican members of the House of Representatives charged with executing an internal and external communications strategy. The Conference is also responsible for electing the House GOP leadership, approving GOP Member committee assignments, and managing leadership-driven floor debates.
Previously, Marc was chief of staff for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX).
Upon earning his master’s degree from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia in 2004, Mr. Short joined the United States Department of Homeland Security where he held several posts, including Director for Communications in the Preparedness Directorate.
From 1998-2000, Mr. Short served as the Executive Director of the Reagan Ranch where he completed the initial multi-million dollar capital campaign to preserve the historic property.
Mr. Short was the executive director of Freedom Alliance from 1995-1998. A non-profit, public policy organization that awards scholarships to the family of slain veterans, Freedom Alliance also promotes policies that encourage a strong national defense.
In 1994 Mr. Short was the Director of the Virginia Finance Committee for the Oliver North for U.S. Senate campaign.
Mr. Short has been featured on NBC’s Today Show, CNN, FOX News, and C-SPAN. His editorials have been published in Investor’s Business Daily, the Manchester Union Leader, and the Richmond Times-Dispatch, among others.
A 1992 graduate of Washington and Lee University, Mr. Short now resides in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, Kristen, and their three children
