Today, a campus liberal organization is hosting former Vermont
Governor, DNC chairman, and presidential candidate, Howard Dean, to speak at the George Washington University.
The infamous “scream” aside, Howard Dean is a progressive
ideologue. In a 2005 Human Events column, Bill O’Reilly poses the question,
“Where Would Howard Dean be without hate?”
O’Reilly writes:
“The thing you've got to love about Howard Dean is
that he is sincere in his hate. No phony he, Dean despises [conservatives], and
everything for which they stand….Howard Dean's anger may be amusing to those on
the far left, but the unintended consequence is it has made him a joke. Dean
can command a forum of true believers now, but America has always dismissed
haters over time. And that's what will happen with Dean and anyone else who
deals in character assassination.”
Dean is no longer credible, or particularly relevant these
days. His angry demeanor, far left views, and unprofessional behavior have
marginalized him even among the left. For example in a 2007 TV
appearance, he remarked, "I think we had quite enough capitalism in the
last eight years and I think we need some regulation now."
However, for all his blemishes, we stand with Dean on his
opposition to the government takeover of health care, a version of which passed this past Christmas Eve.
Dean was quoted in a radio appearance as the following:
“This is essentially the collapse of health care reform in
the United States Senate. And, honestly, the best thing to do right now is kill
the Senate bill and go back to the House … You have the vast majority of
Americans want the choices, they want real choices. They don’t have them in this
bill. This is not health care reform and it’s not close to health care reform.”
