On the one-year anniversary of Margaret Thatcher's passing,
Young America's Foundation hosted some dear friends from across the
pond at President Reagan's beloved Rancho del Cielo.
Students from the Young Britons' Foundation visited the Reagan
Ranch Center and walked in Reagan's footsteps at the Ranch to learn
about the conservative leadership of our
40th President and about his strong friendship with
Inspired by the efforts of Young America's Foundation, the Young
Britons' Foundation (YBF) provides schools, colleges and
universities with the chance to hear alternative viewpoints
presented by conservative speakers, and trains conservative
activists with workshops throughout Britain.
As they walked through the Tack Room, they were tickled by a
1982 mock "Gone with the Wind" poster depicting Ronald Reagan and
Margaret Thatcher, which was produced by the Socialist Workers
Party of Great Britain. Although it was meant to mock the
relationship between the two world leaders, Reagan found it
humorous, and even sent a copy to Thatcher.
YBF Founder and Chief Executive of the Margaret Thatcher Centre
Donal Blaney commented: "Taking young conservatives from Britain to
the Ranch is the highlight of our US programs. They truly get to
see who Ronald Reagan was, to understand the man behind the public
figure. His humility, commitment to hard work, individualism - all
shine through at Rancho del Cielo. What a privilege to be
able to share this home, and the incredible schoolhouse for
Reaganism, with tomorrow's leaders today."
Young America's Foundation looks forward to hosting members of
YBF at our National Conservative Student Conference in Washington,
D.C., where they will hear from some of the top leaders in the
Conservative Movement, and learn how to be more effective activists
on their own campuses.
