6/25/2014 4:34:43 PM Posted by Sawyer Smith

Sawyer SmithYoung America’s Foundation welcomes Sawyer Smith as a program officer focused on student outreach and recruitment. He works to spread freedom on high school and college campuses around the country, providing on the ground support to YAF chapters and other conservative clubs. Additionally, Sawyer assists the Foundation with their many programs.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Sawyer participated in multiple Foundation conferences that inspired him to start and lead Young Americans for Freedom at his university.

As YAF chapter chairman at his school, Sawyer helped plan and organize an event featuring John Stossel to speak about individual liberty, limited government and free-market enterprise. More than 300 students and faculty were in attendance to help make the event a success. He also worked with numerous other campus groups to advance conservative ideas among the student body.

Through internships, Sawyer gained public policy experience in the state legislative offices of U.S Senator Marco Rubio and U.S. Representative Allen West. Throughout his four years of higher education, he regularly participated in educational seminars, lectures, conventions and events that helped equip him to make a valuable impact in his communities through volunteer efforts and leadership activism.

Sawyer originally hails from Southeast Missouri. He attended college in Southeast Florida where he earned a bachelor’s of science degree in finance at Palm Beach Atlantic. He now resides in Northern Virginia and aims to study graduate economics and history part-time. Sawyer loves to play sports, hunt, read, travel and be social. His faith, family and flag are most important to him.
