  • koranIn a new initiative to promote religious pluralism, Duke University will broadcast the Muslim call to prayer every Friday on campus.  The call to prayer-also known as "adhan"-will be chanted by the Duke Muslim Student Association.

The prayer itself is set to start this Friday at 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast and amplified from the Chapel bell tower on campus.

As campuses continue to foster political correctness, they use it as a way to favor religions seemingly at war with Western Civilization and Judeo-Christian beliefs.

Frequently, we see students fighting for their religious freedom on campus-especially Christians.  We hope that Duke University will also allow equal opportunity for Christian students to gather to pray and respect their religious freedom.

Duke University has a long history of fostering political correctness and hypersensitivity from Chick-Fil-A's removal from campus, to hosting the national Palestinian Solidarity Movement conference, and to canceling a pro-life event in their Women's Center on campus.

Young America's Foundation called and emailed Duke University's associate dean of religious life, Christy Lohr Sapp, for comment but has yet to hear back.  Ashley Pratte, spokeswoman for Young America's Foundation, spoke with the associate dean's assistant who confirmed this story.

    • DU will allow a muslim religious service broadcast over their campus. Watch the Feds race to take away their federal money.

    • This is unbelievable! Duke University is a Christian University. Why not broadcast the Lord's Prayer every Friday from the Chapel bell tower? Any thoughts on that??? I am very disappointed in this institution. I agree with Franklin Graham in urging all donors to withhold their donations.

    • The founder of Trinity College must be rolling over in his grave. Liberals love free speech, as long as their the only ones speaking.

    • I have long admired DUKE as a student, graduate, and business person. This intiative takes the cake. When have CHRISTIANS been allowed to worship and sing in MUSLIM MOSQUES??? MUSLIMS, CHRISTIAN, JEWISH persons have always beeen welcomed to particpate in the CHAPEL OF DUKE UNIVERSITY following the prayers and songs provided by the same. WHEN YOU COME TO MY HOUSE YOU FOLLOW MY RULES!!!

    • This is hard to believe....just who's idea was this.....and if the administration goes along with it...then they should also broadcast the "Our Father and Hail Mary" every Sunday. Folks, you better wake and see what's happening here in this country before it's taken away from you....the day will come when you wake up and wonder ...."what happened"....

    • The credibility of Duke University is obviously in question. Poor choices within the school administration will lead to fewer donations and the loss of key students for Duke University. A sad day for the university and Christian students.

    • This is about as un American as I've ever seen. Why don't we just kiss Isis (isil) a$$ and throw the towel from a Christian perspective. Do we not stand on what this country was built on (moral Christian belief, strong family value) Do we not understand that inviting and supporting Muslim faith and not Christianity will be the undoing of our own society. This needs to be stopped. Duke university should be embarrassed .

    • If you don't like it, honk your horn or create other nonconfrontational disturbance during Adhan Friday. Prophet representations are sacred to some, chapels and tranquility essential to others. @keruffle By the way, what is Duke doing with devil mascot? That should offend everyone.

    • Very disappointing, but I am not terribly surprised. Our nation has been on a downward spiral for decades. This is just another way to destroy our 'Christian' nation with a false religion that doesn't coincide with our Constitution and our Republic (remember, our nation was founded by Christians and our forefather sought the wisdom of members of the pulpit in crafting our founding documents). Duke and other universities need to think twice about taking these kinds of actions. Please rescind that decision Duke - you were founded by Quakers and Methodists.

    • WTF.! All the countries that have been hospitable to this crude religion are paying dearly. France is the latest example. Even if they show up seeking asylum they will later turn against u. All America needs to turn their back on Duke if they go ahead with this stupidity. What is this country coming to? This country needs to be delivered and defended from shills who are gradually tearing down the values and beliefs that have held this country together up to this point. If you love this country please help save it from the infiltrators. Take up your ARMS! God Bless America!

    • I don't see what the big deal is here. This is a private institution in a country that has freedom of religion. People of all sorts of faith (and non-faith for that matter) have gone to Duke for many years. They have the freedom to do what they want to.
