KatieDevlin(1)Katie Devlin is a Sarah T. Hermann Intern Scholar this spring at the Reagan Ranch Center. She is from Lafayette, CA and is studying economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Katie comes from a conservative family and became interested in public policy at an early age. As a high school student, Katie began reading The National Review and The American Spectator. She also started attending the meetings of a local conservative women's group, and was inspired by the articles and speakers to become more involved.

Encouraged by current events she decided to take an active role in the Conservative Movement in order to increase awareness of our nation's founding principles. She volunteered on David Harmer's congressional campaign both in 2010 and in 2012. While attending UCLA she has continued to help with campaigns. She is an active member of her campus conservative club, as well as the Vice President of the UCSB Students for Life club. Her conservative club has hosted speakers on campus and has held debates with students on the Left.

Katie was introduced to Young America's Foundation through their monthly Wendy P. McCaw Reagan Ranch Roundtable Series at the Reagan Ranch Center, and from there, she was inspired to join the team and spread the conservative message. She hopes to gain a greater understanding of the Conservative Movement, so that she will have an advantage when she enters the field of public policy after graduation.
