  • New Sarah T. Hermann Intern Scholar Announced!

1/31/2014 2:52:14 PM Posted by Ashley Pratte

Julie DiBernardoJulia DiBernardo is a Sarah T. Hermann Intern Scholar for the spring of 2014 at the Reagan Ranch Center. She is studying political science at Santa Barbara City College.  As a conservative activist, she has worked on campaign and district congressional staff of former Palm Springs Congresswoman Mary Bono. Before this experience, Julia's family background in small business motivated her to become part of the Conservative Movement.

As the president of her high school conservative club she worked with her school and local representatives to bring speakers such as State Assemblyman Brian Nestande to campus-events which educated students on state and local issues.  These sessions were attended by all government classes on campus, which increased the club's membership. Julia worked with a local conservative group to create a program called F.R.E.E. The program sponsors students to attend Reagan Ranch events each summer. This past summer of 2013, four students were sponsored by F.R.E.E  to attend a High School Conference at the Reagan Ranch. Before this program, there were no opportunities for youth to hear conservative ideas in the Coachella Valley area. Julia is the recipient of the Lee Atwater Award at the 2011 Teenage Republican Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

Julia is currently working to reinvigorate the conservative club at Santa Barbara City College. She is honored to be a part of the YAF team for the spring semester. Julia is looking forward to growing as a conservative through this opportunity and use her intern experience to advance the Conservative Movement.
