The “Bush tax cuts” are scheduled to expire on January 1,
2011, and President Obama has made it clear that he does not plan on renewing
them. Oh happy day.
Despite President Obama admitting that Americans are still
hurting, (he said that in reaction to the news that the
recession ended over a year ago without anyone noticing), he is not
listening to reason. Obama plans on putting a heavier tax on those making more
than $250,000, despite the fact that those who make more than that are the ones
investing in job creating companies.
According to a Public
Opinion Strategies poll, 55 percent of Americans believe that raising taxes
on anyone right now is a bad idea.
Sounds like the majority of Americans have a better understanding of economics
than the White House does.
It’s one thing to demonize the rich on a daily basis, but slapping
a tax hike on them amidst an economic downturn is just bad fiscal policy. Out
of control government spending and a failed stimulus program have kept us in
this mess for longer than necessary, and a tax hike isn’t going to make matters
any better.
In response to this baffling decision by the Obama
administration, Young America’s Foundation has created the “Tax Hike Countdown.” You can watch the clock run out in real time!
Be sure to share the Tax Hike Countdown page
with your friends. Email it to your address book. Tweet it. Link to it on
Facebook. The tools to do so are on the page already.
With your help, we can spread the word and ensure everyone
can keep more of their money from the government.
