Young America’s Foundation has a long record of holding strong student conferences in Washington D.C. and regional programs around the country. We are looking for a program officer to join our team to continue this strong tradition.
We are seeking a versatile team member who can develop key relationships with student activists and Conservative Movement leaders to organize events that draw hundreds, if not thousands, of participants.
The ideal candidate will organize all aspects of Foundation conferences including marketing strategies, recruitment, securing facilities, inviting and confirming speakers, working within the event’s budget, and managing all on-site logistics.
The program officer will work with YAF’s leadership to continually review our conferences and ensure Foundation programs are breakthrough events for young conservatives. The candidate will also follow-up with attendees and speakers and encourage their involvement in other Foundation programs.
Coordinate Foundation conferences, seminars, and other events in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere.
Supervise support staff (usually interns) at the conferences to ensure goals of the program are being met.
Communicate all details to confirmed speakers prior to, during, and after the event.
Maintain organized registration system for all conference-related programs.
Coordinate with all vendors for Foundation programs including hotels, caterers, printers, photographers, etc.
Work with the team to develop compelling marketing and advertisements for print in conservative publications.
Utilize new outreach methods and new media to recruit participants to Foundation programs.
Work with Foundation team members at the Reagan Ranch Center and the National Journalism Center on joint programs.
Coordinate Foundation’s participation at other Conservative Movement conferences.
Stay informed of current trends in the Conservative Movement and the greater business community as related to conferences.
Ensure visual representation of events is high quality for television, online broadcasting and photograph and work with Foundation team to ensure maximum media coverage.
The candidate will have a strong interest in promoting conservative ideas to young people. The ideal candidate will have had previous involvement in Young America’s Foundation programs and/or experience organizing events. Other qualifications: team-player, ability to manage multiple projects, able to take direction and work independently. Applicant must have excellent oral, written, and organizational skills. Outstanding copyediting skills are a plus. A car is required. Requirements include: Bachelor’s Degree
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar programs
A strong grasp of promotional and marketing strategies and concepts; eagerness to learn more if needed.
Knowledge of and use of blog technology
