Congratulations to the Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Hillsdale College, who won their College's Club of the Year Award! Just last year was the chapter's first year on campus, and the award is a true testament to how much growth can come from hard work and great organization.
In the short time the club has been active, Hillsdale YAF has been involved in: The 9/11: Never Forget Project, No More Che Day, National School Choice Week, Communist Valentines, Remembering Margaret Thatcher, Constitution Day Bake Sale, NRA Women on Target, I AM YAF Video, GPA Redistribution Video Contest (which they won), a Voter Registration Drive, have shown several documentaries and held faculty and student panels on a variety of topics. They have hosted conservative speakers Michael Medved, Katie Pavlich, and Professors from faculty forums.
Young America's Foundation conferences that Hillsdale YAF members have participated in include: Milwaukee Regional Conference, Columbus Regional Conference, Orlando Regional Conference, Great Beginnings at the Reagan Ranch, Fall Conference at the Reagan Ranch, the National Conservative Student Conference and the Club 100 Retreat. The chapter also brought a group to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.
Much of the success of the chapter is thanks to the dedication of Young Americans for Freedom Board member and Hillsdale student, Nathan Brand. He is privileged to have Foundation conservative speaker and professor Burt Folsom as his club's advisor.
"At Hillsdale, we have a tremendous group of committed students that helped make us the Club of the Year. From the 9/11: Never Forget Project to bringing in speakers like Katie Pavlich, we have had different students step up and make the events successful," Brand stated.
"Club of the Year is a real honor, and an awesome accomplishment, especially since it was just our first year on campus."
It will be remarkable to see what Hillsdale YAF accomplishes in future years, and they serve as an inspiration to all new YAF chapters of what can be done in a short amount of time!
