  • Conservatives on the Rise: Haley Jones Joins YAF Intern Team

6/10/2014 3:22:59 PM Posted by Ashley Pratte

HJHaley Jones is a Sarah T. Hermann student intern scholar for Young America's Foundation headquarters in Herndon, Virginia. Haley is a senior at College of the Ozarks in Missouri.  She is studying communications with a major in public relations and a minor in Journalism. Haley has recently started doing activism work in the Conservative Movement after being introduced to Young America's Foundation at the 2013 Fall Conference at the Reagan Ranch.

Haley knew she was a conservative, but she didn't know exactly why and how to act upon those convictions. Ben Shapiro was the first speaker that spoke at the conference, and he left a lasting impression upon Haley. Hearing Shapiro speak was the first time that Haley felt excited for her conservative beliefs, and she left eager to help advance her idea. Haley found herself interested in public policy and exchanged her apathy on policy for a passion to fight for conservatism.

Upon returning from the fall conference, Haley partnered with other students on her campus that previously attended YAF conferences and successfully began the first Young Americans for Freedom chapter on College of the Ozark's campus. She currently serves as the chairwoman for her chapter and is looking forward to expanding the chapter and influencing students on her campus in future semesters.

Haley is from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she resides on a ranch with her family. After graduation Haley hopes to continue her work with the Conservative Movement, helping to enlighten apathetic students, like her former self, and help them gain a passion and conviction for serving our country.
